Antonio has been seconded as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at GKN Fokker Elmo. Originally from Brazil, he moved to the Netherlands in 2022 for this job. Now he lives with his family in Dordrecht.
Antonio explains how he came in contact with WFS PRO and what appealed to him about the position, "A few years ago I was looking for a job in Brazil and came across the job posting on LinkedIn. At the time, however, there was no position available. About a year and a half later, Puk contacted me again about the position." The total package convinced him to apply, he explains: "The whole offer - the position, the company - all of this made me apply. The country and the opportunity to try something new also appealed to me. It wasn't one thing; it was the whole package that convinced me to take this opportunity."
Moving to another country is not just finding a home; there are also legal processes to consider. We support our employees in their pre-boarding process to the Netherlands. Antonio talks about his experience, "The people were really friendly. They helped me with everything we needed to move to the Netherlands. The visa process went smoothly and they gave us good information. They also explained tax issues clearly. Niels, Puk, Maurice and Monique helped me a lot. They always ask how I am doing and are always ready to help."
However, not everything went smoothly for Antonio. There were some challenges with his marriage certificate because of the language barrier in the Dutch legal documents. "The only thing I would suggest is an improvement in the clarification of the legal documents I had to have. For example, my marriage certificate - I had to arrange this quickly before the move because it was not completely correct according to Dutch requirements."
Moving to another country, especially to another continent, is a big step. Support with the legal process is important, but integration into the new culture is just as important. Antonio shares his experience, "The effort WFS PRO makes to help us integrate and work here, such as the Dutch classes, is really good. I am very happy to work for WFS PRO at GKN Fokker Elmo."
