For our client Kuehne + Nagel Returns NL, we are looking for a General Manager Operations (GMO) who will be responsible for the daily operational management of five Resource Centers (RCs) within the Returns network in the Netherlands. You will ensure an integrated "as one" network approach and guarantee that customer KPIs, operational efficiency, safety, and legal and regulatory requirements are always in order.
Function
As General Manager Operations, you are responsible for developing and implementing the strategic and tactical operational plan for all locations. You translate strategy into consistent, high-quality daily operations and manage both site managers and central teams. You initiate improvements, optimize processes in the logistics chain, and are the operational point of contact for the customer.
- Developing and implementing a uniform operational strategy for all Resource Centers within the Returns network
- Harmonizing processes, standards, and KPIs into a single effective network
- Managing site managers and central operational teams
- Ensuring stable, predictable, and secure 24/7 operations
- Initiating and implementing continuous improvements within the Returns network
- Optimizing end-to-end processes in the logistics chain (suppliers, customers, KN)
- Centralizing network activities and monitoring budgets
- Developing data-driven management models and real-time dashboards
- Dynamically redistribute capacity and personnel between locations
- Responsible for KPI reports and performance reviews for the customer
- Promoting a "One Team" culture and facilitating best practice sharing

Who are you
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration
- At least 15–20 years of experience in logistics operations, including at least 10 years of management experience
- Demonstrable experience with multi-site and network management
- Expertise in Lean/Six Sigma and project management methodologies
- Leadership: ability to inspire and motivate multi-site teams
- Strong analytical skills and results-oriented, with a focus on KPIs and continuous improvement
- Good communication skills, both internally and with customers
- Strategic insight combined with practical operational knowledge
