Software Engineer Backend C++ (Robotics)

Marine & Offshore
Eindhoven
Full time

Introduction

Would you like to develop software that controls real robots? Not simulations, but high-end robotic systems that operate in extreme offshore environments. Do you enjoy working closely with hardware, with real-time control and direct feedback from test setups? Then this is the role for you.

Function

As a Backend C++ Software Engineer (Robotics), you will develop the core software that enables robotic systems to move, measure, inspect, and function autonomously. You will work on real-time control software that directly influences motion control, sensor data processing, and system behavior.

You are involved in the entire development process: from concept and prototyping to validation and implementation on physical systems.

  • What will you do?
  • Developing real-time C++ software for robot control
  • Implementing motion control, feedback loops, and control logic
  • Integrating sensors (e.g., ultrasonic, position, force) into control software
  • Working on modular and scalable robotic architectures
  • Testing and validating software on physical robots and experimental setups
  • Collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineers to optimize system performance
  • Solving complex technical issues within a unique offshore context

What's in it for you

  • Working on advanced robotic systems in a high-tech R&D environment
  • Direct impact on physical machines and innovative offshore technology
  • Plenty of freedom to experiment and deepen technical knowledge
  • Competitive salary and excellent benefits package
  • Performance-based raises and bonuses
  • 30 vacation days and flexible working hours
  • Training budget and career opportunities
  • Informal, close-knit, and technically driven work environment

Who are you

  • A completed degree in Software Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of C++ (experience with C is an advantage)
  • Understanding of real-time systems and control principles
  • Interest in robotics, motion control, and system integration
  • Hands-on mentality: you want to see how your code translates into movement
  • Prerequisite: experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT and/or EtherCAT

About the organization

Our client is an internationally operating engineering organization that focuses on advanced technological solutions for complex offshore applications. From its R&D location in Eindhoven, the company works on the development of innovative robotic systems that must perform reliably under harsh and challenging conditions.

Within this R&D environment, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers work closely together on modular, automated systems. The organization combines the strength and stability of a global player with the agility and innovative power of a specialized development department. Here, you will have the freedom to experiment, improve, and truly bring technology to life.

Interest

Would you like to work on robust robotic systems that are used worldwide? Then we would love to hear from you. Send us your resume and cover letter, and we will discuss the possibilities.
