Antonio has been seconded as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at GKN Fokker Elmo. Originally from Brazil, he moved to the Netherlands in 2022 for this position and now lives in Dordrecht with his family.
Antonio shares how he discovered WFS PRO and what attracted him to the role: “A few years ago, I was looking for a job in Brazil and came across the vacancy on LinkedIn. However, at that time, there wasn’t a position available. About a year and a half later, Puk contacted me again regarding the job.” The complete package convinced him to apply, he explains: “The overall offer—the role, the company, led me to apply. Also, the country and the possibility to try something new that they offered. It wasn’t just one thing; it was the whole package that made me want to take the opportunity.”
Moving to another country involves more than just finding a place to live; there are legal processes to consider. We support our employees in their pre-boarding process to the Netherlands. Antonio recalls: ““The people were really kind. They helped me find everything we needed for moving to the Netherlands. The visa process went smoothly, and they provided us with good information. They also explained the tax situation clearly. Niels, Puk, Maurice, and Monique helped me a lot. They always ask how I’m doing and are always willing to help.”
However, not everything went entirely smoothly for Antonio. There were some challenges with his marriage license due to the language barrier in the Dutch legal documents. “The only thing I would suggest is improving the clarification of the legal documents I needed to have. For example, my marriage license—I had to do this quickly before moving because it wasn’t fully correct according to Dutch requirements.”
Moving to another country, especially a different continent, is a big step. Having support with the legal process is important, but integrating into the new culture is just as important. We offer Dutch lessons to help our employees with this transition. Antonio shares his experience: “The effort that WFS PRO is making to help us integrate and work here, like the Dutch lessons, is really good. I am very happy to work for WFS PRO at GKN Fokker Elmo.”
