Vimaladevi is a Formboard Engineer at GKN Fokker Elmo. Together with her husband, who also works at GKN Fokker Elmo, and their son, they moved to the Netherlands for this job. Vimaladevi is seconded to GKN Fokker Elmo through WFS PRO, and her husband was placed directly with the company by WFS PRO. Despite working at the same company, they work on different projects.
Vimaladevi has been working for WFS PRO for about a year now. She came into contact with WFS PRO via LinkedIn when she was looking for a job in the Netherlands. After applying for a vacancy, she got in touch with Maurice. Maurice guided her through the onboarding process.
Her current position is not the one she originally applied for. She explains how this came about: “Actually, I applied for a different job at first. But at the time Maurice went through my resume and said: You have applied for this role but never worked with this kind of wiring. But we have another role that would be a better fit. After that, the application process followed, for example how the interview-process goes, how much time is needed for immigration and stuff like that. He also asked me about my family situation and who is joining me with moving to the Netherlands. After some time, a meeting was scheduled with the salary and subjects I have to know.”
She shares her experiences about the process prior to the move to the Netherlands: “My onboarding process was very smooth. I didn’t have any difficulties because Maurice was very helpful at the time. Whatever doubt I had, I emailed him and within a day he replied. So that went very smooth for me. He connected me to Monique for the preboarding process of moving to the Netherlands. Maurice explained me all the details. Monique was also very helpful, for example with the plane tickets; she told us when to buy them.”
Vimaladevi moved to the Netherlands together with her family. It was important that arrangements were made for them as well: “I sent my husband’s resume to WFS PRO as well, and they arranged a job for him also. And with the daycare, which I know is difficult to get in the Netherlands, they helped me with pre-booking the daycare. I did that in India already. So whatever difficulties I came across, they solved it before it was a problem.”
She talks about her arrival in the Netherlands: “The house was already arranged for us. So when we came here, we could go directly to our house. It was really kind of WFS PRO to do everything. Also, they arranged a guy to pick us up from the Airport and bring us to our house. They made sure we safely reached our house. Once we went into our house we met Maurice. So, we didn’t go through any difficulties, and we safely arrived. Because of this, we felt already safe and weren’t scared or anything. WFS PRO gave me directions to the nearest bus stop. They told me how many kilometers our house is from the office, so I could get travel expenses. They thought of and helped me with so many things. That was really nice.”
At WFS PRO, we find it important that our employees are guided during their pre- and onboarding. Vimaladevi shares her experience: “They are really responsible at WFS PRO. From what I have seen, they are not ignoring anyone’s request. Whatever I say, they feel responsible and usually they try to help us out. I am also following the Dutch lessons that WFS PRO provided. And it sets apart from other lessons because they give the lessons in the evening, not during office hours. I consider it as a plus point.”
